Thereza Snyman – Judges Q&A

Thereza Snyman, DELTAS Ambassador and Legal IT Strategy Consultant

Why did you choose to become a judge for the British Legal Technology Awards 2019?

Excellence should be recognised! There were really two main motivations. Firstly, there is considerable activity in the LegalTech space – it is a burgeoning area. And yes, excellence should be recognised and rewarded, but even more so, I believe that awards would stimulate competition and a desire to strive for excellence. Secondly, when the awards were first proposed (and throughout), the integrity of the judging process made the BLTA stand out – I believed that it will gain respect and traction in the LegalTech market, and that belief has been borne out since the awards were initiated two years ago.

What Key Advice Would you Give to a Company Entering the Awards?

Take the judging process seriously, consider the criteria carefully and only enter when you are genuinely persuaded that your offering satisfies the strict requirements.

What Makes an Entry Stand Out for you?

There is no one single factor, and it really depends on the requirements for each category.  However, overall, I can say it is both the quality of the submission and the presentations.

What in your Opinion Elevates an Entrant to Become a Winner?

The fact that the offering or the achievement makes a real contribution to the overall LegalTech market and is worthy of recognition and the prestige conferred by the award.
