Q&A with 2018 ‘Social Impact of the Year’ Winner – Amicable

Netlaw Media talks with amicable, to reflect on their success at being awarded ‘Social Impact of the Year’ at The British Legal Technology Awards 2018.

How do the team at amicable feel having won the ‘Social Impact of the Year’ award?
amicable is driven by a genuine social purpose, to protect families from expensive and disastrous divorces and separations. The company was created as a result of our founder’s traumatic experience of divorce; the financial and emotional fall out was a huge shock. We knew there had to be better a way to separate and believe amicable is the answer for many couples across the globe. Gaining recognition for the social impact we are having is validation that the company is doing what it’s meant to do for families across the country. Winning the award was a huge celebration for the whole team who work so hard, day in day out, to support people through a tricky time in their lives. .

In your opinion what did you do differently that made amicable stand out to the judges?
amicable is unique in the market place and is addressing a genuine social issue that affects hundreds of thousands of people every year here in the UK. Jacqueline de Rojas CBE’s comment on amicable is a short but sweet view of amicable’s work; ‘Balancing profit with purpose’.

How do you feel this award will affect business going forward?
Excellent motivation and recognition for the whole team who work hard every single day to help couples and families to avoid expensive and acrimonious separations.
