Why did you chose to become a judge for the British Legal Technology Awards 2024?

When I look at why the UK attracts more than twice the investment in tech than any other European country, I realise that this is for many reasons including the talent pool and the incredible heritage we have for innovation. But perhaps the biggest is that our legal framework is the most trusted in the world. For me that makes legal tech an incredible opportunity to get involved in.

What Key Advice Would you Give to a Company Entering the Awards?

My best advice is to to be really clear about the problem you are solving. Often entries are so focused on the solution that they forget to be clear about the problem they relate to and assume that the judges understand the pain and challenges they are trying to overcome.

What Makes an Entry Stand Out for you?

In my experience, entries stand out when they relate to real world outcomes. It is also impressive when the entry has managed to reach large numbers of users thereby proving its value.

What in your Opinion Elevates an Entrant to Become a Winner?

Winners distinguish themselves through a combination of vision, impact, innovation and often some creativity too. It is always heartening to see examples of collaboration and leadership.
