Paul Sinha
Paul Sinha is a Chaser on ITV’s The Chase. He’s been called a lot of names whilst on the show but the most popular is probably The Sinnerman. What a lot of people don’t know is, he is an extremely popular comedian, speaker and also an awards host on the corporate circuit.
It was in the late 90’s that Paul Sinha, who had qualified and was working as a junior GP in London, started to do a bit of stand-up comedy. He was actually very good at both his chosen career as a doctor but also with his comedy, which was now bringing in the odd award. We all know what junior doctors get paid, so it probably wasn’t a big surprise that Paul’s comedy became his main profession.
As with many of the country’s top comedians, it was The Edinburgh Fringe which finally put the full spotlight on Paul. In 2006 he brought his second one man show called, Saint or Sinah to Edinburgh. It was there Paul Sinha received a nomination for the Best Comedy Show. The awards these days are known as The Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards. They were originally known as the Perrier Awards. When Paul was nominated they were called the comedy Awards. We think Paul Sinha likes Edinburgh, because between 2004 and 2022 he has featured in the Fringe ten times. He will be back in 2023 with a brand new show called Pauly Bengali.
It’s not only TV that you will come across Paul he has, for many years featured on BBC Radio. Here he does comedy and quiz shows, which he is quite good at. He has also been on BBC’s The News Quiz and presented his own show called Quiz Culture. This was a documentary where Paul talked about the people who regularly entered quizzes. He was already a competitive quizzer having achieved a top ten ranking. He has appeared on The Weakest Link, University Challenge, Brain of Britain and Mastermind.
